Summer Solstice (Midsummer’s Day)

Summer Solstice (Midsummer’s Day) – Jacqueline Nash

This bright Summer Solstice day
brings us abundant light,
it is the longest day of the year
and takes us into the shortest night.

When the mid-day sun is at it’s highest
it appears to stand still to our eyes,
for the wheel stops and then starts again,
as the sun journeys back to the southern skies.

At this time we celebrate growth and life,
with abundance and plenty galore,
but the days will become slowly shorter,
now the sun declines towards Winter once more.
