Summer is Over – Jacqueline Nash
Summer is over, her warm days no longer to be found.
Autumn has stepped into her shoes and walked through the door,
scattering her glorious colours all around.
Red, yellow and brown, adorn her spectacular autumnal gown.
Colourful leaves have already started to fall from the trees,
which are slowly being stripped naked, their bare limbs exposed
for all to see, Autumn is disrobing with ease.
Twisting, turning, the leaves dance around, falling to the ground.
Autumn will continue to assert her authority with great delight,
ensuring that the days become cooler and the dark nights longer,
until Winter steps into her shoes on the longest night.
Then, Summer will be, just a distant memory. ©
