The Struggle

The Struggle – Jacqueline Nash

Trying to get a grip,
but finding it impossible to hold on,
my hands just keep slipping, slipping,
so I grip a little tighter.

Seeing only shades of grey,
I search desperately for brighter hues,
but I have become colour blind, so blind,
so I try to see more clearly.

As I fall into the abyss
I try so hard to fight against it’s pull,
still I continue to fall deeper and deeper,
so I fight even harder.

I feel my heart beating,
know I must still be alive, breathing,
although inside I am dying, so dead,
so I struggle to feel alive.
