Castles in the Air – Jacqueline Nash
I’m forever building castles in the air,
excited as they take shape in skies of blue,
every detail put together with such care
until my castle in the clouds comes into view.
Always, when it starts to come together,
the castle starts to fall apart around my feet,
desperately I try to stop it crumbling further,
but the more I try, the more I meet defeat.
On the ground I see my aspirations,
my hard work come to no avail it seems,
and so again I walk away from my ambitions,
being careful not to trample on my dreams.
