Glass by Jacqueline Nash

Glass

Trying to connect
but I cannot reach the part of you
I want to reach,
your distance is too far away,
a universe between us.

Listening to me talking,
you see my mouth move
but your ears do not hear.

My words tumble to the ground
like confetti at your feet,
jumbled letters that make no sense.

I gather them up
and try to rearrange them
into an order you will understand,
into something you want to hear.

I make eye contact,
but now as I talk
your eyes look through me,
I have become glass.

It is sad having people like this in your life. Even worse when it’s someone close and you can’t necessarily cull them out of your life. Peace and love. Excellent piece too.

Yes, I agree. My partner is not at all like this I have to confess, I’m one of the lucky ones, but it is something I have observed in other couples. Thank you once again Kim for your kind comment. xx
